Food was amazing. The tasting banquet (really a banquet it will make you full) is presented so scrumptiously. Service a little slow (but we were in the corner so understandable) and they forgot to serve our pu’er tea (which was fine because we were too full anyway).
All in all it was worth the money!

Laurus is a Modern Chinese restaurant located on Victoria Street in Carlton. The name translates to “Bay Leaf” in Latin and the venue is super modern, with multiple dining areas for different dining occasions.
The Asian fusion menu uses modern and traditional cooking techniques, with plenty of unique dishes to pique your interest. You can order a la carte or there is also a Tasting Banquet for $88 which seems like amazing venue. @roger_yinhaolu is part owner and head chef, bringing his experience from @theatlanticrest and @sezarmelbourne.
My favourite dishes were the Moreton Bug Noodles and the Beef Puff with Yuzu Mayo. The Crispy Eggplant was also great however could’ve been crispier. The Duck was cooked to perfection just lacked seasoning and flavour. The Wagyu was delicious but could’ve been more tender, it came in two sizes, we found the 150g to be plenty. 🤗
Overall we enjoyed our dinner, everything was good but each could’ve been slightly improved in execution. Not quite fine dining Definitely worth a visit.

Lucky to try the Spring new menu on the very first day! Service was great and the food was amazing, so flavourful.
The restaurant is very nicely setup, beautiful ambiance, lighting was perfect and played lovely covers songs. Highly recommended.
Food was quite good, would recommend their eggplant and salted duck. The spice glazed duck was a little underwhelming and quite average for a signature dish and for the price. The Laurus osmanthus gin with tonic was enjoyable. The atmosphere and service were great.
The banquet is great value and very filling with a variety of flavours. Have been here twice with different menus and both times the food was amazing. They even have vegan options which are just as tasty.
Really unique Chinese fusion restaurant! Very attentive staff who made sure we were well looked after. Unique flavours and dishes, ordered from the Banquet Menu. Great variety and left feeling very full. Will come back again!
Only minor issue was that I asked for a private corner as we were dining for my partner’s birthday, but ended up being sat next to a table that was slightly noisy. Otherwise fully enjoyed the experience.
I had the best duck ever, cooked to such perfection and I can still the crunchiness of the skin. Definitely would recommend this place, though I did like to try the tasting set , but too bad I was here alone. Chef Henry was really cute too
